We did it - we walked 35 km on Sunday 14 September 2025 in The Bloody Long Walk event held in Perth!
Through the blisters, sweat and aching legs, our 35km walk was for kids and adults affected by mitochondrial disease, a debilitating genetic disease that causes organ dysfunction and failure.
For those who doubted we could make it, it's not too late to make a donation to support our efforts. Visit www.bloodylongwalk.com.au - THANK YOU!

Water Corporation requires their customers who discharge trade waste into the wastewater system to get an approval from the Water Corporation in the form of a Trade Waste Permit. The permit may require the installation of pre-treatment fixtures such as grease arrestors to protect the wastewater system from incompatible materials that can cause formation of odorous and toxic gases, blockages, flooding, corrosion, excessive loading of the system and potential negative impacts on wastewater re-use. The permit also requires this pre-treatment apparatus to be serviced and maintained in accordance with the permit condition. If you require additional information, please contact the Water Corporation.
A grease arrestor is typically a rectangular tank or pit with a baffle at the inlet end and a T-square outlet; this is the most commonly used trade wastewater pre-treatment device in food handling and preparation processes. It is designed to collect fats by flotation and coagulation and to settle solid material as sludge, preventing these materials from discharging into the sewer system and causing blockages. The effectiveness of a grease arrestor is dependent on good housekeeping practices and maintenance of the grease arrestor as per the frequency stipulated on the Trade Waste Permit.
The frequency of pumping out grease arrestor is shown on your Trade Waste Permit .
The frequency of pumping out your septic tanks is set by your local government Council and is contingent upon the type of system and surrounding environment. Generally, get your septic tank pumped out at least once in every three years period for a family of up to five people.
There's no magic, quick trick or enzyme which alone can help your septic system work better. In a healthy tank, the natural bacteria should be enough to operate the septic tank efficiently. However, if you are putting harmful chemicals down the drain, it can kill the bacteria. Without bacteria, organic waste won’t break down and you will have to get the septic tank pumped more frequently.
Here are some tips to maintain your septic tank in good health:
Controlled liquid wastes are transported to approved waste treatment facilities which can accept waste in accordance with their environmental licence, authorisation and/or approvals applicable to the premises.
